CLEARFIELD – It took a jury a jury a little over an hour to reach a verdict in the commonwealth’s case against former Clearfield County Children, Youth and Family Services Director Lisa Dohner.
Dohner was charged with 25 criminal offenses, and found guilty of all. Her trial began on Tuesday, with testimony from former co-workers, a current and forme rClearfield County Commissioner and colleagues, as well as law enforcement officials.
The charges include: 18 counts of tampering with public records or information, five counts each of theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception and conflict of interest. In addition, she has been charged with three counts of criminal attempt and one count of forgery. Her charges stem incidents during her employment at CYFS from 2003 to 2006. At the time of the incidents, she served as the director of CYFS. She was terminated in March 2006.
In each instance of tampering with public records, the jury had to decide whether Dohner acted with the intent to defraud, and in each instance, they found that she did.
The case was presented in two parts: the first subsection focuses on six mileage reimbursement sheets, which were submitted with errors by Dohner. Under the second subsection,a focus on the thank-you cards that were forged and presented as being from non-profit organizations.
A pre-sentence investigation will be conducted prior to Dohner’s sentencing prior to Dohner’s sentencing.
