Duane Clayton Spencer, 78, of Greenville, Grampian RD, passed away Thursday morning Aug. 12, 2010 at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Born Oct. 8, 1931 in Grampian, he was the son of Albert and Viola (Mahlon) Spencer. Mr. Spencer was retired from Benjamin Coal Co. as a miner, was a member of the Bible Fellowship Church in Draucker’s Woods, Luthersburg RD, and was a member of the Bilger’s Rocks Association.
On Dec. 18, 1953 he wed the former Joyce LaRue Bonsall who preceded him in death on Oct. 7, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Jeanette Harmic.
Surviving are 3 children: Edward Spencer and his wife Carolyn of Stronach, Todd Spencer of Grampian, and Dawn Reed and her husband Rick of Grampian. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, a brother Norman Spencer and his wife Kay of Virginia and a sister Caroline Lyons and her husband Ernest of Luthersburg.
Funeral Services for Mr. Spencer will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Aug. 16 at 11:00 a.m., with the Reverend Kevin Beard officiating. Interment will be in the Friends Cemetery Grampian, PA.
Friends and family will be received at the funeral on Aug. 15 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m.
The family suggests contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
