Joseph N. Kolash, age 80, of Deer Lane in DuBois, PA died on Aug. 2, 2010 at the DuBois Nursing Home.
He was born on April 30, 1930 in DuBois, PA. He was the son of the late Joseph N. Kolash, Sr. and Mary (Yakulis) Kolash.
He was a veteran of the Korean War in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He married Joan (Nelson) Kolash on September 18, 1954. She survives.
He retired as superintendent of the Hot End at the Brockway Glass Co. Plant #1 after 44 years of service. He was the owner/operator of Joe’s Garage, now known as Kolash Garage for many years.
He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church in DuBois. He delivered meals on wheels, was a volunteer van driver for the Hahne Cancer Center. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed bowling and he enjoyed gambling. He loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Mr. Joseph D. Kolash of Rochester, New York, Mr. Richard M. Kolash and his wife, Sheri of DuBois, PA, Mr. Andrew J. Kolash of Williamsport, PA, twin daughters, Mrs. Jeffrey (Susan) Hetrick of Weedville, PA and Mrs. Keith (Sherri) Smith, Jr. of Luthersburg, PA and Mrs. Joseph (Dianne) LaBenne of DuBois, PA. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Norbert (Mary) Snell of DuBois, PA and a brother, Mr. John “Jack” (Dee) Kolash of Brockway, PA, fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Helen Bentley and Virginia Ketter.
Visitation will be held on Aug. 4 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. from the Goble Baronick Funeral Home in DuBois.
A Scriptural Wake Service will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 1:45 p.m. from the funeral home.
The DuBois Area Honor Guard will conduct a ritual service on Aug. 5 at 10:15 a.m. from the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Aug. 5 at 11 a.m. from St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.
Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard from the church.
