PORT MATILDA – Police responded to state Route 220, approximately one-half of a mile north of Lion Country Supply, where a construction worker observed suspicious pipes.
The worker saw the pipes on the eastside of the roadway in the grass, approximately five to ten feet off the road and 100 feet apart. The Pennsylvania State Police and the Penn State Bomb Squad worked together to determine that the pipes were not explosive. All precautionary measures were taken in order to ensure the safety of the public.
Alternate SR 220 was closed for approximately two hours from Port Matilda to Bald Eagle.
