Aldean R. Hughes, age 89, of Philipsburg passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at the Tyrone Hospital.
Born November 15, 1920 she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Alice Ritchie.
She was a graduate of the Osceola Mills High School and was employed for many year at the What to Wear Shop in Philipsburg and had also worked for a time at Shugart’s Show Store and the Uniform Shop, both in Philipsburg.
She was Methodist by faith and was formerly a member of the Philipsburg Area Hospital Ladies Auxillary.
On October 17, 1940 she wed W. Benjamin Hughes who preceded her in death in 1981.
She is survived by a daughter, Alice Jane Williams and her husband Kenneth of Philipsburg and one grandson, Jeffrey Williams.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald and John Ritchie; and two sisters, Ruby Hartmand and Hazel Ashcroft. She was the last of her generation.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce Street, Philipsburg with the Rev. Mark Thumma officiating. Burial will be held in the Philipsburg Cemetery.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
