CLEARFIELD – Sandee’s Gifts received the Golden Broom Award for the month of July. The Golden Broom Award is a summer program initiated by the Clearfield Revitalization Corporation, CRC. Each month, the broom gets passed from business to business within the Main Street District, with the monthly winner in charge of passing it onto the next month’s winner. Last month, the Golden Broom Award for June was Zalno’s Jewelers, and now they are passing on the Award to Sandee’s Gifts.

Ron and Jim Zalno chose Sandee’s Gifts because Sandee has hosed down her sidewalk every week, even before the Golden Broom Award was established.

According to Ron Zalno, “It’s nice to see Sandee out there, as a business owner, not her staff, keeping her own business clean. As a business owner myself, I know how busy you can get, so I think the broom should be passed onto Sandee’s Gifts for always taking the time to tidy up her storefront.”

Condon was excited to be honored with this award, and stated that this recognition was worth the effort. When asked why she thought staying clean and green is important, she observed that a clean storefront is “more inviting for customers.” Sandee’s Gifts will now be passing on the award in August. When asked what criteria she will look for, Condon replied she will be looking for business that “have no garbage on the sidewalks and are clean and tidy.”
