SPRUCE CREEK – Camp Kanesatake, located in Spruce Creek, Huntingdon County, PA was the location of the 2010 Regional 4-H Camp. This year’s 4-H camp theme was Meet the Future and campers from the counties of Bedford, Clair, Cambria, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, and Huntingdon took part in the 4-day program.

Beginning on June 20 through Monday, June 21, a 4-H Mini Camp provided a one-night opportunity for youth between the ages of 8 and 10 years of age. Twenty-one youth took part in the camp overnighter, which offered workshops on the Songs & Teambuilding, Leather Crafts, the Seeing Eye Puppy Program, Rocketry, and a Stream Stomp activity. Additionally, the campers took part in swimming and even had the opportunity to listen to a campfire story, while eating delicious mountain pies. Camp concluded with a parent program on Monday evening. Ryan Bell of Morrisdale, Jerica Fischer of DuBois, Megan Fitzpatrick of Morrisdale, Taylor Maguire of Morrisdale, and Lauren Turner of Philipsburg represented Clearfield County at the 2010 4-H Mini Camp.

Our Traditional 4-H Camp welcomed close to 150 campers from June 21 through June 24. Additionally, the campers took part in swimming, a bottle rocket launch, a boat float, a tribe relay & newspaper challenge, a graffiti dance, and Camp Kanesatake’s newest addition, a 200 foot zip line. A Counselor-at-Training workshop was also conducted daily for our campers 14 years of age & older that wished to serve in the role of a camp counselor for 2011.
