Police Chief Jeff Fink said the police department received a $3,000 grant from Wal-Mart, which they used to purchase some new office chairs and for a new sign for their building. He said the sign is currently being constructed.
Fink also said they reapplied for a grant from the Department of Justice that would pay for the salary and benefits of an officer for three years. The township would be responsible for the fourth year of the agreement, which states the township must retain the officer for a fourth year.
The supervisors voted in favor of the grant application.
