Centre County Solid Waste Authority will receive a $410,000 grant for recycling more than 20 tons of refuse, announced state Sen. John N. Wozniak.
“Recycling is a way that everyone can contribute to a cleaner, healthier environment and a better world for our children,” Wozniak said. “This grant and the effort it rewards are investments in our future.”
The grant was awarded by the state Department of Environmental Protection under its Recycling Performance Grant Program, started in 1988. The program provides incentive to help Pennsylvania communities increase the amount of materials recovered through recycling and promote economic growth in the commonwealth through job creation and market expansion.
The grant is based on 20,337 tons of refuse recycled in Centre County in 2008.
