Anderson the Only Feature Winner as Mother Nature Washes Out Racing at Hummingbird Speedway

Reynoldsville, Pa (July 17, 2010)
Fans at the Hummingbird Speedway are accustomed to seeing drivers with nicknames like “The Hurricane”, and “The Tornado” in victory lane, but Saturday night it was Mother Nature, driving a Severe Thunderstorm Warning that took center stage. Blue skies and bright sunshine greeted fans and race teams, but it wasn’t long before the storm clouds started to darken the sky around the speedway. Heat races for the 5 divisions were run off in quick order, and the track crew made a few passes with the grader to knock down the heavy cushion during a quick intermission. Mike Anderson of Dubois picked up his second win of the season, and padded his point lead in the Rear Wheel Drive 4 Cylinders as he held off a late race charge from tenth place starter Adam Nixon as the pair crossed the stripe nose to tail with the rain drops beginning to fall. The Street Stock feature was rushed on to the speedway as the rain continued to fall. With lightning in the distance, Joe Kot took the early lead with Jim “Animal” Bloom hot on his tail. Several cautions slowed the event, and during a lap five caution the rain became more steady, forcing track officials to postpone the remainder of the racing events due to the rain and frequent lightning. The features for the Limited Late Models, Pure Stocks, and Front Wheel Drive 4 Cylinders along with the remaining 15 laps of the Street Stock feature will be run next week in addition to the regularly scheduled 5 division show. Join us next week for Double Features and a Birthday Celebration for Track Owner Louie Caltagarone as we once again Light Up the Night at the 1/3 Mile Bullring, The Hummingbird Speedway!
