Police reported a theft that occurred on between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Monday at the Holt Memorial Library in the Philipsburg Borough. Police were called to the location where someone allegedly stole a child’s gift. Library officials said the gifts are incentives for young readers who are in the Summer Reading Program. Police said they believe the suspect took a $20 doll into the restroom and removed it from its packaging before sneaking the item out of the library. The investigation continues.
