He was born on February 9, 1928 in Newark, NJ, a son of the late James F. and Viola (Hettinger) Stalfa.
Mr. Stalfa owned and operated the Redwood Inn, LeContes Mills for more than 10 years. Prior to that, he was employed at Piper Aircraft, Co. from 1974-1983. He also served with the US National Guard from 1958-1974,
attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class.
He was a former member of the Volunteer Fire Company in Eatontown, NJ.
He is survived by six children, William Haberl and wife Jackie Hewitt, TX, Charles Haberl Ocean, NJ, Thomas Haberl, Frenchville, Cathy Kolbe, Henderson, NV, James Stalfa and wife Elaine, Mountain Top, Cynthia Lanager and husband Robert, Frenchville, and 16 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn G. (English) Stalfa on January 7, 2002 and whom he married August 12, 1955 in Rumson, NJ, and a daughter-in-law Janet Haberl.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Matthew Finney officiating. Interment will be at Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW posts’ honor guard.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-8:00 PM and on Wednesday from 10-11:00 AM
