Elizabeth Zakutney, 86, of Houtzdale died Tuesday at Windy Hill Village, Philipsburg.
Born on June 25, 1924 in Osceola Mills, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Marko) Kost. She was a member of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church, Osceola Mills.
She was a graduate of the former Osceola Mills High School. She retired from the former Campalong Clothing Factory, Madera.
On Aug. 11, 1951, she married Thomas P. Zakutney in Houtzdale. He preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 1993.
Mrs. Zakutney was also preceded in death by her parents; six sisters, Mary Nelson, Annie Hayes, Julia Roisser, Irene Powers, Helen Olds and Susan Archer; and four brothers, Alex, John, Andrew and George Kost.
She is survived by four daughters, Rebecca Villa of Madera, Mary Ann Wingate of Houtzdale, Nadine Twigg and her husband, Roger of Madera, and Malee Maurer and her husband, William of Harrisburg; and a son, Michael Zakutney and his wife, Shirley of Houtzdale.
She is survived by nine grandchildren, Julia Wingate, Robert Wingate, Jr., Megan Wingate, Clarissa Wingate, Trevor Villa, Kristin Darhower, Dennis Twigg, Gregory Twigg and Sara Zakutney. She is also survived by two great-grandsons.
A burial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church, Osceola Mills, with the Archimandrite Jacob Piruta officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday and from 11 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. at the Heath Funeral Home, Osceola Mills. Panikhida will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
