John William “Jack” Riddle, 79, of Curwensville, passed away on June 21, 2010 at the Conemaugh Valley Regional Medical Center in Johnstown.

Born Feb. 19, 1931 in Curwensville, he was the son of Ross William and Marie Helen (Clark) Riddle.  Mr. Riddle was a farmer, and operated the Curwensville Feed Store from 1967 thru 1992.  He was a Naval Veteran of the Korean War and was Protestant by Faith.

He was a 1949 graduate of Curwensville High School where he was President of his class and graduated with high honors.  He was a member and Past Master of Noble Lodge #480 F. & A. M. of Curwensville, was a member of the Coudersport Consistory, a member and past President of the Clearfield County Penn State Extension, a past Chairman and member of the Board of Directors of the Clearfield County Soil Conservation District, was Past President and past member of the Board of Directors of the Curwensville Development Corporation, had held every office and was currently Vice President of the Clearfield County Farm Bureau, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

On Sept. 21, 1951 in Curwensville, he wed the former Ellen Jean Greslick who survives along with 4 children.  David J. Riddle and his wife Pam and Kathryn M. Coudriet and her husband Boyd both of Curwensville, LuEllen Bowman of Clearfield, and Robin A. deShaw and her husband Chuck of Punta Gorda, FL.

Also surviving are 9 grandchildren Heather Pleskonko, Ryan Coudriet, Stephanie Polito, Dr. Christopher Riddle, Jessica Crouse, JoEllen deShaw, and Mindy, Katie, and B.J. Bowman, 3 great grandchildren Mia Polito, Connor Crouse, and Jackson “Jack” Riddle, and a sister Helen Marshall Frailey and her husband Bob of Curwensville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Doris Bodenbender, Mabel Bloom and Marjorie Shaw, brother Thomas Riddle, brother-in-law Thomas Shaw, and an infant grandson Derek deShaw.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Curwensville United Methodist Church onJune 26 at 11:00 a.m., with the Reverends George W. Solley and Todd T. Hogue officiating.

Friends will be received at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.
