Obituary Notice: Gregory J. Katishen

Mr. Gregory Joseph Katishen, Sr., 47, of  Beccaria, passed away at 3:50 a.m. on June 17, 2010 at his residence.
 
He was born on Oct. 5, 1962 in Philipsburg, the son of John “Jake” Katishen of Beccaria and the late Leona M. (Franko) Katishen.
 
Greg was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ramey and was a 1980 graduate of the Glendale Jr. – Sr. High School, Flinton.  He worked as a laborer for 30 years at K & F Wood Products of Beccaria.
 
Greg was a member of the Glendale High School Quarter Back Club, a social member of the Janesville VFW, and a past assistant coach for the Irvona little league and teener league baseball teams. 
 
On Sept. 24, 1988 in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ramey he married Lisa M. Kephart Katishen who survives in Beccaria.
 
Greg is survived by two children, Gregory Joseph Katishen, Jr and Autumn Nicole Katishen both at home in Beccaria.
 
He is also survived by a sister, Cynthia K. Laing and her husband John “Scott” of Beccaria; his father in-law and mother-in-law, Andrew and Patricia Kephart of Osceola Mills and a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
 
Greg was preceded in death by his mother, Leona M. Franko Katishen who passed away on Oct. 4, 2006; his maternal grandparents, Joe and Mary (Knuth) Franko and his paternal grandparents, John and Eva (Cornes) Katishen.
 
Friends will be received onJune 19 from 7-9 p.m., June 20, from 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. and on June 21, from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc. Ramey.
 
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ramey, on June 21 at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Zab Amar will be the celebrant and interment will follow in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery,  Ramey.  Memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church P.O. Box  196 Ramey, PA 16671.
