CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Revitalization Corporation Design Committee has chosen Zalno’s Jewelers as the June winner of the Golden Broom Award. The committee explained that Zalno’s was noted for cleaning their storefront windows and for picking up litter off the road and in a parking lot across the street from the store. They also tidied up their block and sidewalk with a broom and dustpan, rather than simply brushing dirt into the street, which was another reason they were chosen to receive the Golden Broom Award.

The committee asked Zalno’s Jewelers why they think staying clean and green is important. Ron Zalno, co-owner, said “Appearance can be your only chance to leave a positive first impression on new customers or visitors into your store, as well as your town. This is why Clearfield as a community needs to work together to keep our streets, storefronts and buildings clean and presentable.”

Zalno’s Jewelers will receive a golden broom to display for the month in their storefront and will be passing the award on to next month’s winner. In looking for the next Golden Broom Award of July, Ron Zalno said, “Jim (Zalno) and I will be keeping our eyes open for downtown businesses that go the extra mile to keep their storefronts clean, planting flowers and greenery outside of their buildings, and encourage others to keep their appearance neat.”
