Malcolm Ray “Mac” Johnston, 78, of Grampian, passed away on June 10, 2010 as the result of a motor vehicle accident.
Born Aug. 8, 1931 in Curry Run, he was the son of Woodrow and Eunice (Tubbs) Johnston. Mr. Johnston was a truck driver, having owned and operated Johnston Trucking, and was also a diesel mechanic having been the proprietor of the Curwensville Truck Service from 1971 thru 1989.
He attended the Curry Run United Methodist Church. Was a U S Naval Veteran of the Korean War, was a member of the Curwensville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 842, and was a former member of the Curwensville Rotary Club.
He was wed to the former Betty Lou (Richards) Whitaker who preceded him in death on March 8. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother Ronald Keith Johnston.
Surviving are 4 children: Cheryl Ann Muldoon and her husband William of Liberty Town, MD, Kitty L. Johnston of Tyrone, Sandra L. Bressler and Dale E. Johnston and his wife Valerie both of Curwensville. Also surviving are step children Larry J. Whitaker of DuBois, Pamela Wilkinson and her husband Frank of Curwensville, Lee Anne Gilcreest and her husband Doug of Denver, CO, a brother Duane G. Johnston and his wife Dorothy I. of Curwensville, a sister-in-law Laura Jean Johnston of Brockport, NY, as well as numerous nieces and nephews from New York and Pennsylvania.
In addition there are 4 grandchildren Keshia DuFour, Geri Bressler, Alysia Johnston, and Justin Johnston, 6 step grandchildren Jason Whitaker, Jamie Griffith, Dustin Wilkinson, Tyler Wilkinson, Danielle Gilcreest, and Ashley Gilcreest, and 6 step great grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mr. Johnston will be held at the Curry Run United Methodist Church on June 15 at 7:00 p.m. with the Reverend Howard Lindsey officiating.
The family suggests contributions be made to the Grampian Lions Club Sight Program in care of Mr. James Bennett P.O. Box 114 Grampian, PA 16838.
Military Honors will be accorded at the church by members of the Clearfield Honor Guard.
