Wayne E. Kunes, 92, of Keewaydin, passed away on June 4, 2010 at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College.
Mr. Kunes was born on July 7, 1917 in Keewaydin, the son of Haskell G. and Grace (Woodling) Kunes.
He was a graduate of Snow Shoe High School and the Pennsylvania State University, School of Agriculture.
Mr. Kunes was owner and operator of Kunes Apple Farm in Keewaydin for over sixty years.
He was a member of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church of Karthaus and was active in many other local organizations.
Mr. Kunes is survived by three children; Dianne Sierer and her husband Ed of Millsboro, DE., Curtis W. Kunes and his wife Jackie of State College and Tim K. Kunes and his fiancee Sandy of Keewaydin, five grandchildren; Brian Sierer, Christopher and Gregory Kunes, Michelle Dunkleburger and Barbara Kunes and six great grandchildren.
He was the last member of his generation having been preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dorthoy “Dottie” (Moss) Kunes whom he married on September 11, 1938 and who passed away on Jan. 28, 1994, a granddaughter, Kimberly Bieber Sierer Paro and two sisters; Anita Thomas and Violet Gilliland.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on June 8 at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., of Clearfield with Pastor Carrie Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Keewaydin Cemetery.
Friends will be recieved at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of services.
