Obituary Notice: Maria Maddalena

Maria Maddalena, 91 of Philipsburg, died Monday, May 24 at Windy Hill Village.

Born on March 16, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Rosa (Esposito) Sepe. She was a member of the St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg.

Mrs. Maddalena shared a passion for flower gardening and enjoyed sewing. She often made many of her own clothing items.

She was a seamstress with McTaague Clothing Manufacturing, Philipsburg, until her retirement.

On Sept. 15, 1945 in Naples, Italy, she wed Albert M. Maddalena, Sr. He preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 1996. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rosalie Maddalena, four brothers and three sisters.

Mrs. Maddalena is survived by a daughter, Angela Leventis and her husband, Frank, of Philipsburg, and a son, Albert M. Maddalena, Jr. and his wife, Nina, of Yorktown, VA. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Stephanie Leventis, of Annapolis, MD, and Michael and Alyssa Maddalena, of Yorktown, MD.

Private funeral services were held Friday, May 28, with the Rev. Joseph P. Staszewski officiating at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home. Interment was at the St. Peter & Paul Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 400 S. Fourth St., Philipsburg, PA 16866, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
