John D. Reitz, age 87, of Rock Dump Road in Reynoldsville, PA died May 31, 2010 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center.
He was born on June 15, 1922 in Ridgway, PA. He was the son of the late Damond and Edna Helen (Stevenson) Reitz.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II as a flight engineer on PBM and PBY aircraft.
He married Janet L. (Schmiedel) Reitz on July 27, 1944. She preceded him in death on September 16, 2007.
He was one of the principal founders and past president of Symco, Inc. in Sykesville, PA. He also directed various projects at Exotic Metals plant in Ridgway, PA. He was the owner/operator of Mohawk Industrial Design in Ridgway, PA.
He enjoyed woodcarving & woodworking and playing golf.
He is survived by his two sons, James E. Reitz & his wife, Dana of Strattanville, PA, and Jeffrey D. Reitz of Pittsburgh, PA, one brother, Richard Reitz & his wife, Betty of Elizabethtown, PA, two grandchildren, James L. Reitz & his wife, Celeste of Brookville, PA and Michael J. Reitz & his girlfriend, Jacqueline Wentz of Punxsutawney, PA and one great grandchild, Regan B. Reitz of Brookville, PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, John D. Reitz and two brothers, Robert and Elton Reitz.
Visitation will be on June 3 from 6-9 p.m. and June 4 from 11-1 p.m. from the Goble Baronick Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held on June 4, at 1 p.m. from the funeral home with Pastor Mary Ellen Hoffman officiating.
Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Ridgway, PA.
