CURWENSVILLE – Two people were injured following a motorcycle accident involving a deer on Sunday.
According to the state police in Clearfield, a bike operated by Kevin Penrose of Glen Campbell was traveling east on state Route 969. A deer entered the roadway and struck the front tire area. After impact with the deer Kevin Penrose lost control of the motorcycle, which traveled about 310 feet before coming to rest on the north shoulder of the roadway. In the process Kevin Penrose was thrown from the bike. His passenger, Patricia Penrose, was also thrown from the bike.
Kevin Penrose was transported from the scene to the Bells Landing ball field where he was airlifted by Stat MedEvac to Altoona Regional to be treated for a head injury. Police said he was not wearing a helmet.
Patricia Penrose was transported from the scene by Clearfield Ambulance to DRMC for treatment of unknown injuries.
Police were assisted at the scene by the Mahaffey and Grampian Volunteer Fire Departments, Clearfield Emergency Medical Services and Simbeck Towing.
