Obituary Notice: Shirley E. Bloom

Shirley E. Bloom,   86 of Grampian died on May 24, 2010 at Clearfield Hospital.

She was born on March 26, 1924 in Big Soldier, a daughter of the late Thomas and Frances (Lieberton) Nesbit.

Mrs. Bloom was employed as the Grampian Borough secretary for many years.  She also worked as a cook for Grampian Elementary School.

She was a member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Grampian, where she volunteered as church treasurer. She was the caretaker of Grampian Community Park for many years and also volunteered as a crossing guard.

She is survived by her husband, John G.  Bloom, whom she wed March 4, 1949 in Luthersburg,

Three daughters:

      Nancy Buell and husband Bob                                          Curwensville

      Jill Peterson and husband Dave                                        Rockton

      Sally McFadden and husband Robert                               Huntsville, AL

Five grandchildren:

      Robert Buell, John and Alan Peterson, Lacey and Brett McFadden;

And one great grandson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter Sharon Lee, a brother Thomas Nesbit and a sister Sandra Wells.

Funeral services will be held at the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Grampian on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Emmett Anderson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Grampian, RD.

Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. and at church on Thursday from 10-11 a.m.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church Building Fund, 6 Sixth Street, Grampian; Curwensville Public Library, 601 Beech Street, Curwensville, or to the American Cancer Society, 26 South Second Street, Clearfield.
