Obituary Notice: Robert N. Williams

Robert N. Williams, 85, of Clearfield and most recently of Virginia Beach, VA., passed away on May 23, 2010 at Marion Manor in Virginia Beach.

He was born on May 23, 1925 in Clearfield, the son of Thompson B. and Vada C. (Casher) Williams.

Mr. Williams was a graduate of Clearfield Area High School and the American Mitchell Design School in New York City.

He retired from the former Clearfield Furs after more than fifty years of service as a fur designer.

Mr. Williams was a member of the West Side United Methodist Church of Clearfield.

He was a United States Army Veteran having served during WWII with the field artillery, receiving four bronze stars and the good conduct medal.

Mr. Williams was a member of the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post No. 6, Third Ward Hose Co., Central District Volunteer Fireman’s Association, Philipsburg Mountianeers, Good Sam Club, Groundhog R.V. Club, Camping Club of America and Fork Run Hunting Club.

He is survived by two daughters; Elaine Durst and her husband Tom of Virginia Beach, VA and Diane Hillery and her husband John of Charlotte, NC., six grandchildren; Holly Durst Whitaker and her husband Douglas of Baltimore, MD., Thomas “Beau” Durst, Jr., of Tampa, FL., Kimberly Durst and Zachary Durst of Virginia Beach and Jacob Hillery and Seth Hillery of Charlotte, NC., and two sisters; Shirley Bloom and her husband Al of Clearfield and Marilyn Price and her husband Ned of Cold Spring Harbor, Long Island, NY.

Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Cecelia H. (Hollis) Williams who passed away on October 1, 2001 and his beloved Boston Terrier and best buddy, Wooferd.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on May 27 at the Bennett and Houser Funeral, Inc., of Clearfield with Dr. Joleen A. Willis officiating. Interment will be in Crown Crest Memorial Park.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services.
