Police Report: Philipsburg PSP

– Police reported a found firearm at 4:10 p.m. May 19 in Worth Township, Centre County. Troopers indicated a “Jennings Firearms, Inc.” Nickel-plated .22LR model J-22 semi-auto handgun was found in a wooded area along Huckleberry Hill Road. They said the firearm doesn’t have any handgrips or clip and appears as if it may have been “buried in elements” for an extended period of time. Anyone who may have lost a firearm, which fits the above description, is encouraged to contact the Philipsburg State Police at 814-342-3370.

– Police reported an incident of burglary that occurred between 5 p.m. May 16 and 3 p.m. May 19 in Rush Township, Centre County. A person(s) broke a metal lock latch off of a garage door at an address along the Tyrone Pike. Troopers indicated the person(s) gained entry before fleeing the scene. The victim – a 51-year-old Altoona man – told police that he searched the garage and didn’t believe anything appeared to have been taken.

– Police reported an incident of scattering rubbish at 6 p.m. May 19 in Huston Township, Centre County. Troopers said a male suspect was reportedly observed dumping 17, large truck tires from a black pick-up onto state game lands. They said the suspect has been identified, and their investigation is ongoing at this time.

– Police reported an incident of harassment that occurred sometime around 9 p.m. May 20 in Halfmoon Township, Centre County. Two Warriors Mark adults were engaged in a verbal argument at Loveville Road. During the dispute, a 58-year-old Warriors Mark man allegedly pushed a 19-year-old Warriors Mark woman out of his office. He then allegedly attempted to close the entrance door while she was standing in the doorway. He struck her with the door at which time she pushed it open and punched and kicked him. Both sustained minor injuries and refused to cooperate with an arrest.

-An accident occurred on Presqueisle Street as a Ridgway woman was northbound on state Route 350. She failed to stop at a blinking red light and went through the intersection. She was then struck by a Philipsburg woman who was westbound on Presqueisle Street. No injuries were reported.

-While conducting a traffic enforcement on US Route 322 in Philipsburg Borough, a blue Cadillac was observed speeding. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver provied a license issued to him from Saudi Arabia. The driver became nervous when asked to produce a registration for his Oklahoma-registered vehicle, then admitted that he could not locate the registration card. While completing documents for the speeding violation, the driver and passenger were observed acting suspicious. A consent to search the vehicle was obtained from the driver and police found marijuana and drug paraphernalia. As a result a 19-year-old Philadelphia man was taken into custody and placed in Centre County Jail.

-Police are investigating the theft of a 2003 Suzuki LTZ 400 ATV, yellow in color, that was stolen from Walker Street in Osceola Mills sometime between May 10 and May 19. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
