Fire Destroys Morrisdale Home, Dog Alerts Sleeping Resident to Fire

MORRISDALE – A fire that destroyed a Morrisdale home did not claim any victims thanks to man’s best friend.

According to the state police in Clearfield, a fire marshal assisted the Morrisdale Fire Company in investigating a fire at 4309 Morrisdale-Allport Highway at a mobile home owned by David Gower and Jennifer Quick. Police said the fire orginated within an electrical outlet in the living room and was due to an electrical malfunction.

Police reported that Gower was at home at the time of the fire and was asleep. He was awakened by a dog at the residence. He escaped from the home with two dogs and minor burns from attempting to put out the fire.

Damage is estimated at $80,000. The home and its contents were a total loss.
