Obituary Notice: Edward R. Fenton

Edward R. Fenton, 85 of Philipsburg, passed away on May 18 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center in State College.

Born on May 10, 1925, he was the son of the late Harry and Caroline (Wilson) Fenton.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Philipsburg, served in the SeaBees with the U.S. Navy during WWII, worked as a welder for Meyer Brothers in Phililpsburg and Hoffman Coal Company in Karthaus until he retired and was a 1943 graduate of Philipsburg High School.

On Dec. 28, 1948, he married the former Jane Horne in Philipsburg. She passed away on Jan. 29, 2009.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; an infant daughter; brothers Earl, Joseph and Kenneth Fenton and sister Evelyn Snyder.

He is survived by sons Edward M. Fenton and his wife Ruth of State College and Matthew R. Fenton and his wife Pat of State College; grandchildren Curtis J. Fenton of Philadelphia; Michael R., Jessica R. and Adam R. Fenton, all of State College.

He was the last of his generation.

At Mr. Fenton’s request there will be no public visitation or funeral service.

Burial will be at the Philipsburg Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce St., Phililpsburg.
