STATE COLLEGE – The Chamber of Business and Industry of Centre County is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2010 Workforce Development Scholarships. The monies are raised during the CBICC’s annual “Open for Business” golf tournament. The tournament will be held this year at Toftrees Golf Resort & Conference Center on Friday, July 30. Since its inception, the Workforce Development Scholarship Program has awarded over $42,000 to local students.
This year, a $1,250 scholarship was awarded to one high school student in each of the five Centre County School Districts who is enrolled in a program of technical education or training and plans to pursue a career in a technical field in Centre County upon completion of their education.
“We have had the good fortune of having this program grow over the years and are pleased to see the business community support such an important endeavor,” said Trudy Mitchell, VP of Economic Development. “The recipients have consistently been excellent students who have demonstrated real talent and this is a way for us to support technical education and workforce development initiatives in Centre County.”
The 2010 Workforce Development Scholarship recipients are as follows:
- Bald Eagle Area School District – Caleb Miller
- Bellefonte Area School District – David Grafmyre
- Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District – Adam Gallaher II
- Penns Valley Area School District – Matthew Auman
- State College Area School District – Ethan Griffin
