William D. Reed, Jr., 67 of Hyde, PA, passed away May 13, 2010 at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center-St. Margarets Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.
Born on Nov. 22, 1942 in Corry, Erie County, PA, he was the son of Betty (Adams) Reed of Mount Jackson, VA and the late William D. Reed, Sr.
Mr. Reed was a graduate of Clearfield Area High School and was a partner in Reed Brothers Construction until his retirement in July of 2002 after 44 years.
He was affiliated with the Primitive Methodist Church. Mr. Reed was also a member of the Old Town Sportsmen Club and a member of the NRA. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed salt water fishing and traveling in his RV. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Linda (Bainey) Reed, whom he married on July 13, 1963 at the Methodist Church in Philipsburg, PA; two children: David W. Reed and his wife Tina of Olanta, PA and Lynette Reed Jacobs and her husband Keith of Poolesville, MD; four grandchildren: Taylor and Dustin Reed and Robert and Brian Jacobs; two sisters: Linda Reed of Mount Jackson, VA and Vonda Caldwell of Warren, OH; a brother, Donald Reed and his wife Sheila of Clearfield, PA.
Mr. Reed is preceded in death by his father and a brother, Albert Reed.
Funeral services will be held on May 18 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., 312 E. Locust Street, Clearfield, PA with Rev. Duane W. Stiner officiating. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park in Hyde, PA.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on May 17 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of services.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 26 South Second Street, Clearfield, PA 16830 or to the Primitive Methodist Church of Glen Richey, PA.
