CLEARFIELD – At Thursday night’s work session of the Clearfield Borough Council, Jim Kling, a member of the Planning and Community Development Committee, submitted a request for approval of an addition to the Clearfield Borough Code, Chapter 69, Article II Grass, Weed, and other Vegetation.
Kling explained to council that there has been some gray area in terms of what homeowners are responsible for in regards to the land in between the road and sidewalk. He said that although the borough is responsible for the trees, the homeowner is responsible for the grass, weeds, and other vegetation in that area between the sidewalk and the road.
Fred Wisor question Kling as to whether this particular code addressed properties maintained by realtors and foreclosure properties that are maintained by banks. Kling said that they would have to address that issue in a separate code due to it encompassing more than just the strip of land between the sidewalk and road.
Kling also said that grass and other landscape clippings are not to be dumped in the road.
Council will vote on the addition to the code at next week’s meeting.
