SANDY TOWNSHIP – A structure fire severely damaged a garage owned by Jeff and Jennifer Reed at 565 Lundgren Road in Clear Run.

The Sandy Township Fire Department and J.E. DuBois firefighters responded to the structure fire at 6:15 p.m. Monday.  The fire started in a truck that was parked inside a garage, which was attached to the home owned by the Reed’s.

According to the fire chief, Bob Wilson, the fire was attacked aggressively in order to protect the nearby home.

“Everyone did a great job in the initial attack to prevent the fire from spreading to the home and contain the fire to the garage area,” said Wilson.

The fire was ruled accidental.  A reconditioned Harley-Davidson motorcycle, a Yamaha four-wheeler, tools, and accessories were destroyed as a result of the fire.  The homeowners were treated for smoke inhalation.

Penelec and DuBois Emergency Medical Service also responded.  The Red Cross assisted the family, which was displaced due to electrical service disconnection.
