Obituary Notice: Carl J. Dixon Sr.

Carl J. “June” Dixon Sr., 81, of West Decatur, passed away on April 24, 2010 at Altoona Regional Health System.

He was born on Jan. 2, 1929 in Wallaceton, the son of Samuel and Dolly (Merritt) Dixon.

Mr. Dixon had been employed at the Bigler Brickyard, Piper Aircraft of Lock Haven and retired as a weighmaster for Glen Irvan Corporation. He had also worked for a cabinet shop in Wallaceton and installed kitchen cabinets with his son.

He was a member of the New Life Center in Philipsburg.

Mr. Dixon was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife, Betty E. (McBride) Dixon whom he married on October 11, 1956 in Penfield, a son, Carl J. “Joe” Dixon, Jr., and his wife Debra of Clearfield, two grandchildren; Debra M. Raymond and her husband Sean and Joseph L. Dixon, all of Beaver Falls, PA., two great grandchildren; Dylan L. Raymond and Dayana M. Raymond, a brother, Robert Dixon of North Carolina and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Dixon was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters; Elizabeth Smay and Norma Dixon.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on April 28 at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., of Clearfield with Pastor John T. Dill officiating. Interment will be in Bloomington Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on April 27 from 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of services. Military Honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the Clearfield American Legion Post #6 and the VFW Post #1785 Honor Guard.
