MORRIS TOWNSHIP – An investigation continues into a structure fire, causing an estimated $150,000 worth of damage to a Morris Township residence during the early morning hours on Friday, the Clearfield State Police reported.

According to the report, Cpl. Thomas E. Josephson, a state police fire marshal, assisted the chiefs of the Morrisdale Fire Company in their investigation. He said their investigation revealed the fire originated on the first floor of the structure.

Josephson said the Old Turnpike Road structure was an approximately 22-foot by 28-foot, two-story residence. He also said it had a 24-foot by 34-foot, single story addition.

Josephson said Lewis M. Bumbarger, 60, owned the two-story residence. He said Bumbarger’s son returned home and discovered the fire. He then awoke Bumbarger, who was reported to be sleeping upstairs.

Josephson said both Bumbarger and his son escaped the fire with two dogs. No injuries were noted in the report.

Anyone with information about the fire is urged to contact Josephson at 814-857-3841.
