Gabler: Phone Access to Census Filing Available to Residents who Missed Mailing

DUBOIS – State Rep. Matt Gabler (R-Clearfield/Elk) would like residents of the 75th Legislative District to know that a telephone service is available for anyone who did not receive a 2010 Census form in the mail.

“My district offices have received a number of telephone calls from residents with post office box addresses in the St. Marys area who did not receive Census forms,” Gabler said. “We’ve also been made aware that nearly all of the forms sent to members of the Treasure Lake community never made it into their mailboxes and were returned to the Census Bureau due to a mailing error.”

Gabler said residents who have not received a form by mail may call 1-866-872-6868. Anyone who is hearing impaired should call 1-866-783-2010. In either case, callers will be asked to verify the physical existence of their property.

“It is estimated that more than eighteen hundred households in Treasure Lake alone did not receive forms,” added Gabler. “It is imperative that anyone who was missed in the mailing process respond as soon as possible so that our area can receive our proper share of resources and representation at both the state and federal levels. Responding to the Census by telephone also allows us to avoid the cost of having to send workers door-to-door to accomplish what can be done in a more cost-effective manner.”
