PA Lottery to Retire Super 7

HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania Lottery officials Tuesday announced the final drawing for Super 7 will be April 27.

“Super 7 has had a successful run for more than a year,” said Lottery Executive Director Ed Trees. “But players are attracted to higher jackpots, and now that Mega Millions joined the Pennsylvania Lottery’s lineup on Tuesday and Friday nights, Super 7 jackpots are not as popular as they once were.”

Super 7, which debuted on March 11, 2009, currently offers an estimated annuity jackpot of $7.9 million and a cash jackpot of $3.89 million. If the final Super 7 jackpot is not won on April 27, the Pennsylvania Lottery will distribute the jackpot prize money amongst all lower-tier winners.

Super 7 is a $2 terminal-based game offering an annuity jackpot that begins at    $1 million. To win the jackpot, a player must match seven of the 11 winning numbers drawn by Lottery.

“The Lottery constantly monitors its games’ performance, discussing new games and making changes when needed to keep the game lineup fresh and exciting for players,” Trees said.

The largest Super 7 jackpot, an $8.26 million annuity, was won by a Lancaster County man from the May 29, 2009, drawing.

A jackpot-winning ticket worth $775,000 cash from the Dec. 4, 2009, drawing has yet to be claimed. The winning ticket was sold in Marietta, Lancaster County. Super 7 winners have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes.

How to Play Super 7: To play Super 7, players choose seven numbers from one to 77, or use the quick-pick, computer-selection method. To win the Super 7 jackpot, players must match seven of the 11 numbers drawn. Players who prefer the cash jackpot must select the cash payout option at the point of purchase; if the player does not opt for cash, the jackpot will be paid as an annuity. Besides the jackpot, players can win cash prizes by matching six, five, four or three winning numbers. Odds of winning the Super 7 jackpot are 1-in-7,287,298. The overall odds of winning any Super 7 prize are 1-in-17.81.
