Peter A. Bapp, 63 of Arminta Street in DuBois and formerly of Queensbury, NY died Sunday at his residence.
Born on June 6, 1946 in Glens Falls, NY, he was the son of Oscar Bapp and Marian (Petty) Bapp Howk. He was Protestant by faith.
Mr. Bapp was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart.
He was an avid New York Yankee fan and also a New York Football Giants fan. He enjoyed bowling and shooting pool. He was a life member of Queensbury Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6196.
On Feb.16, 1974, he married Sylvia (Harrington) Bapp. She survives him in DuBois.
Mr. Bapp is survived by two daughters, Niva Jarvis, of DuBois, and Melanie Haynes and her fiancé, Gary Johnson of Hudson Falls, NY; two sisters, Mrs. Jack (Ruth) Creeden, of Stuart, FL, and Harriett Kalme, of Easton, NY; and two brothers, Donald Bapp and his wife, Peggy of Fort Pierce, FL, and Richard Bapp and his wife, Sharon of Stuart, FL. He’s also survived by six grandchildren, Cassandra Jarvis and Tyler Jarvis, of DuBois; Bryant Haynes and Zack Haynes, of Hudson Falls, NY; and Olivia Johnson and Melissa Johnson, of Hudson Falls, NY, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, David Bapp, Robert Bapp and Joseph Bapp.
Visitation will be held from 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
The DuBois Area Honor Guard will conduct a ritual service at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, with Pastor Ken Sherwood officiating.
Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard from the funeral home.
