CLEARFIELD – The Chamber of Commerce of Clearfield has become aware of another potential scam targeting area businesses. Calls are being received across our area from Loyalty Publishing who is claiming to be putting together a visitor/relocation guide. Area businesses should not agree to any advertising over the phone with this company.
Media outlets ran stories in 2009 reporting that the Clearfield County Recreation & Tourism Authority warned of this same company who over the years has changed their name to try to rid of the bad publicity they’ve received throughout the years. The Chamber announced earlier this year, another company named Hometown Productions/Premier Map was calling area businesses stating that the Chamber of Commerce was putting a Clearfield map together and looking for advertisers, which also was not true.
As a rule, never agree to advertising over the phone with a company that you aren’t familiar with. There are plenty of reputable agencies in and around Clearfield that will contact you directly when there is a legitimate local publication in production.
To be clear, the Chamber has recently published our new membership directory with Hampton Publishing and we are not currently involved with any type of map or other visitor guide. If in the future we would offer advertising opportunities Chamber members would first be notified by mail to bring awareness of the project and also give the name of the person that will be contacting you regarding advertising. No one will ever call you without first being notified of the project.
