Obituary Notice: Virginia A. Collins

Virginia A. “Ginny” Collins, 65 of Curwensville, passed away on April 6, 2010 at the Clearfield Hospital.

Mrs. Collins was born on Jan. 12, 1945 in Clearfield, the daughter of Oren W.Carns, Sr. and Doris L. (Owens) Carns.

Mrs. Collins while attending high school had worked part time at the Clearfield Hospital in the kitchen, and later worked as a secretary for the superintendent at the Clearfield High School, and as a teller at the Curwensville State Bank in Curwensville, she then worked at Curwensville Nursing Home and later transferred to Ridgeview Elder Care and Rehabilitation Center Corporate Office in Brockway as an Office Clerk.

She attended the Mt. Carmel Church, in Mahaffey.

Mrs. Collins was a former member of the Business and Professional Women of Curwensville and volunteered on fund raisers for the Curwensville band.

She is survived by her husband; Dale K. Collins whom she married on Oct. 6, 1962, a son; Kevin A. Collins of Mt. Carmel, PA, and four grandchildren; Kaitlyn Noelle McCracken, Morgan Hunter Collins, Wesley Wolfe Collins, and Alexa Joan Collins and a brother Oren W. ‘Butch” Carns, Jr. and his wife Martha of Clearfield. Also surviving are two nephews.

Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter Linda M. McCracken.

Funeral Services will be held on April 9 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. of Clearfield with Pastor Roger McGary officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville, PA.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from12:00 p.m. until the hour of services.
