CLEARFIELD – An assault at Clearfield County Jail resulted in one prisoner having surgery to one of his ears and two men being charged.
The Lawrence Township Police Department reported the incident earlier this week. On Thursday, more information was made available concerning the jail assault.
According to the LTPD the incident occurred on Monday. They received a report of a fight that took place at the jail and investigated the incident. Two men were arrested as a result of that investigation: Frank R. Izzo of Ellwood City and Todd M. Vereshack of Irvona. Both men face charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, criminal conspiracy of assault by prisoner and related charges.
The LTPD report states that the charges were filed after an altercation between four inmates. Two suffered moderate to minor injuries, with one inmate being taken to Clearfield Hospital. He required surgery to his left ear.
