CLEARFIELD – A 23-year-old Clearfield man who has been accused of striking Club MoJo’s after an attempt to run over a bouncer waived his right to a preliminary hearing at Centralized Court Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail.

Christopher A. Rose, 23, of Clearfield has been charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, criminal mischief, recklessly endangering another person, driving under the influence of alcohol, accident involving damage to unattended vehicle or property, reckless driving and public drunkenness. Rose had his bail reduced from $50,000 to $25,000 monetary.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, the Lawrence Township Police Department was dispatched to Club MoJo’s at 12:30 a.m. on March 19. They were notified a reported vehicle had intentionally driven into the building.

Police said Rose was allegedly in the establishment and engaged in an altercation with another person. They said bouncers broke up the fight, escorting Rose outside. They said Rose was asked to leave the premises.

Police said Rose then became aggressive with the bouncers. They said Rose was again asked to leave the premises. They said Rose entered his sports utility vehicle that was parked in front of the building.

Police said Rose then allegedly backed up near the front entrance to the Club MoJo’s building. They said Rose yelled at a bouncer, “I’m going to shoot you.” They said he also yelled “I’m going to kill you” to the same bouncer.

Police said the bouncer asked Rose to leave the premises once more. At that time, they said the defendant put his vehicle in reverse, stepped on the gas, propelling the vehicle backward. They said Rose’s vehicle struck the shrub and building in an attempt to run over the bouncer.

Prior to Rose’s vehicle impacting the building, police said the bouncer observed two women nearby. They said the two were standing behind Rose’s vehicle. They said the bouncer pulled both out of the way, so they wouldn’t be struck by the defendant’s vehicle.

Police said the defendant put his vehicle in drive, speeding out of the parking lot. They said he did so at a high rate and in a reckless manner.

Officer Charles Marshall, of the LTPD, responded to the scene and related he was familiar with the defendant. He related that Rose was possibly headed to the Lawrence Park Village Apartments on Park Avenue.

Marshall arrived at the apartment complex and found the vehicle in question. He said it was “wrecked” into a set of guiderails head-on at the end of the complex. He said the door was open with the vehicle running. He said it was still in drive, but no one was in the immediate area

Marshall said he later found Rose on the sidewalk in front of the apartment complex. He indicated he was highly intoxicated and unconscious. He said they shook him awake and took him into custody.

Marshall said Rose admitted he was the vehicle’s operator. He said the defendant was aware he’d face jail time for the incident. He said Rose was transported to the emergency room for blood work and then to the jail.

Marshall said the Club MoJo’s building sustained moderate damage as a result of the incident. He said the inside wall of the men’s restroom was cracked due to the impact. He said the SUV’s back window was broken as well. He said the window’s glass was found in the shrubs and parking lot at the scene.
