Philipsburg PSP Issues Consumer Advisory

PHILIPSBURG – The Philipsburg-based State Police has issued a consumer advisory.

According to the initial report, police notified residents about an “independent company” that was soliciting funds to support local fire departments. They said the caller requested to speak with the “lady of the household.”  They said the caller then said he/she represented an agency that supports local fire departments.

In an updated report, police said the independent company was “The Fire Charitable Foundation.” They said it was also listed as a non-profit organization. They said the company collects funds nationwide for distribution to fire victims as well as local fire departments.

Police said residents should contact their local fire department representative before providing account information or donating any funds.
