DUBOIS – DuBois City Council approved three items toe help the Downtown DuBois Revitalization Group in their efforts to enhance Downtown DuBois at Monday night’s DuBois City Council Meeting . Council approved the requests of the Downtown DuBois Revitalization Group that were presented at the work session last Thursday.

Among the requests were three items that would prepare downtown for spring and summer promotions.  One of the requests was to put up more banners throughout the downtown, including on the new light poles on the new streetscape on West Long Avenue.  Some of the banners are at the request of Penn State DuBois in honor of their 75th Anniversary.

A request was made to Penn State for a donation toward their banner installation.  John “Herm” Suplizio stated that he would contact a representative from Penn State in order to obtain a donation.

Another request was asking permission to block the street from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on the first Friday of each month from May to October.  In conjunction, they also asked that parking be free during those hours and that the city use barricades to block the street.

The third, and final request, was asking permission to use the City Park as the staging area for the annual Spring Clean-up that takes place on April 10, as well as a city worker to help load and dispose of the trash bags collected.  It was also asked that the dumpster be available, as it has been in past years.

The Downtown Revitalization Group stated that they are “trying hard to create events, activities, and promotions that generate goodwill, positive energy, and community spirit.”  They also thanked council in helping them in their efforts.
