Prom Closet Enters Sixth Year

CLEARFIELD – Central Pennsylvania Community Action is proud to announce the sixth year of The Prom Closet. The Prom Closet is a program designed to assist girls with their prom dresses and accessories.  Purchasing a prom gown and accessories can be very expensive, and families who are already living paycheck to paycheck or on a limited income often can’t afford to dress their daughters in style.  That’s where The Prom Closet comes in.  We collect, clean and distribute gowns to lend a helping hand for girls attending their prom.

As The Prom Closet enters its sixth year, we are asking for your help.  We are in need of donations of gowns, shoes, rhinestone or costume jewelry and accessories.  Financial donations are also being sought to help with the operational costs of this program.  If you are interested in donating a gown to the program, simply drop your gown off at Central Pennsylvania Community Action, 207 E. Cherry Street, Clearfield, Hyde Wesleyan Church, or Chubby’s Cleaners in Clearfield.  Once the gowns are collected and cleaned, CPCA staff will sort and display the gowns at The Prom Closet, which will be in a new location this year.  The Prom Closet will be in the Multi-Service Center located at 650 Leonard Street in Clearfield.

If you or your business would be interested in becoming a community partner, please contact Gail Webster at Central Pennsylvania Community Action, 765-1551.

The Prom Closet will be filled with beautifully prepared gowns and accessories for each girl’s preference.  The Prom Closet will open on March 12, 2010.

All area girls planning to attend her high school prom in need of this service should contact Gail Webster at CPCA by telephone at 814-765-1551 or 800-822-2610 or by email gwebster@cpcaa.net . The Prom Closetwill be offered on a first come first served basis.
