COALPORT – A 24-year-old Cresson man was taken into custody following a Friday afternoon burglary at Kann’s Country Gift Shop in Coalport Borough, the Clearfield-based State Police reported.

David Martin Brosch, Jr., 24 of Cresson, has been charged with both burglary and theft by unlawful taking. He was arraigned by Magisterial District Justice Patrick Ford. He was placed in the Clearfield County Jail with bail set at $50,000 straight.

According to the report, Brosch entered Kann’s Country Gift Shop at 2:30 p.m. Friday, while the establishment was closed. Police said he allegedly removed an electric, multi-purpose saw, which is valued at approximately $300.

Police indicated a neighbor observed Brosch enter and leave with the saw. They said the neighbor approached and questioned the accused. As a result, they said Brosch then placed the saw back inside the gift shop.

Police said the neighbor began to escort the accused to a nearby auto repair garage to contact authorities. They said Brosch fled the scene at that time. Brosch was later apprehended in Coalport Borough.
