Clearfield Bar Association Receives Recognition Award from State Bar

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Bar Association presented a County Bar Recognition Award to the Clearfield County Bar Association during the 44th Annual Seminar of the Conference of County Bar Leaders, Feb. 25 – 27, in Lancaster.

Recognized for Legal Eagles 9, the Clearfield County Bar Association is one of 26 local bar associations in Pennsylvania honored this year for sponsoring projects that improve the legal profession, justice system or community. The awards are presented annually by the Pennsylvania Bar Association.

“Each year, thousands of Pennsylvania lawyers voluntarily invest their time and expertise in programs that improve our local communities and this ongoing commitment to service is to be commended,” said PBA President Clifford E. Haines. “It is our hope that the County Bar Recognition Awards will encourage even more legal professionals to take part in activities that make positive impacts on the lives of their fellow citizens.”

Legal Eagles 9 is a continuation of the Legal Eagle Program in Clearfield County. Founded by lawyer Mark A. Falvo, the program reaches elementary and middle school students in every school district in Clearfield County. The program now reaches into Warren County as well. Speakers from a range of occupations address topics such as good decision-making, peer pressure, bullying, cyber-bullying, sexting, stranger danger and self-esteem. Supported financially by area businesses, the program is offered free of charge to the participating school districts. The program has received many local, state and national awards.

The Conference of County Bar Leaders, whose membership includes leaders from county bar associations throughout the state and from the Pennsylvania Bar Association, organizes a yearly educational conference focusing on the exchange of innovative bar association projects and ideas and on the development of mutually-beneficial relationships among bar leaders that improve the legal profession.

Founded in 1895, the Pennsylvania Bar Association strives to promote justice, professional excellence and respect for the law; improve public understanding of the legal system; facilitate access to legal services; and serve the 29,000 lawyers who are members of the association.
