George Bartram (“Bart”) Lee, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, died on Feb. 19 at his home in DuBois. He was 59.
Born on Aug. 8, 1950 in Clearfield, he was the son of Asbury W. Lee III and Sally Virginia (Hoffman) Lee.
He grew up in Clearfield, graduated in 1968 from Severn School in Severna Park, MD, and attended Robert Morris College in Pittsburgh. During the course of a 30-plus-year career in hotel and restaurant management, he lived in Clearfield, State College, and Somerset, PA, as well as in Washington, DC, and Front Royal, VA.
Blessed with a wonderful sense of humor and an incredible memory, he enjoyed golf and was an avid football fan, particularly of the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He loved spending time with his family and adored dogs, especially basset hounds. He was a lifelong United Methodist.
He is survived by two sons, Ryan Matthew and his wife Jennifer (Korpa) of Charlotte, NC, and Timothy Patrick of Clearfield; four grandsons, Alex of Pittsburgh, Noah and Caleb of Clearfield, and Jacob of Charlotte; a sister, Katharine Butler, of Pennsylvania Furnace, and four brothers, Asbury W. IV of Altoona, Robert E. of Richmond, VA, William F. of Brooklyn, NY, and David Bruce of Mystic, CT; and by seven nephews and four nieces. He was previously married to Kathy (Carlson) Timko of Clearfield, and to Patricia (Quigg) Lee of Washington, DC, who remained friends and who also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepmother, Esther (Buck) Lee, and one nephew.
Bart will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
A private farewell service will be held later at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
