Clyde Wilson Phillips, age 85, of Philipsburg passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at the Veterans Administration Pittsburgh Health Care System, Pittsburgh.
Born February 28, 1924 he was the son of the late Clyde and Jenny Phillips.
He was a 1942 graduate of the Woodward Township High School in Houtzdale and was employed with the Pennsylvania Railroad. He then worked as a line foreman at the Chrysler plan in Newark, DE. Upon his return to the Philipsburg area he was employed with Power Contracting Coal Company until his retirement. He was also an Army Air Force Veteran of W.W. II, serving as a sergeant in the European Theatre.
He attended the New Life Center, Philipsburg.
In 1948 he wed Dorothy Vaughn-Croft who survives at home. He is also survived by two sons, Richard Phillips of Somerset and Mark Phillips of Philipsburg; two sisters, Betty Barto and her husband Pete and Lois Temchack and her husband Frank of Houtzdale; a brother, Donnie Phillips and his wife Alberta of Connecticut; two grandchildren and one great-grandson.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean and Ida Mae.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the Beezer Heath Funeral Home, Philipsburg with the Revs. John T. Dill and R. Wayne Focht. Burial will be held in the Philipsburg Cemetery.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
