DUBOIS – Mark Zimmitravich spoke to a full audience at Monday evening’s DuBois City Council meeting to inform the public of a community project he is heading up. The project is called “Get Healthy DuBois”.
Get Healthy DuBois is a community project that is aimed at seeing how much total weight the DuBois community can lose while becoming less sedentary and eating healthier. The project will consist of a starting weigh-in and a final weigh-in. The starting weigh-ins will be held March 1-15 in the Third Ward Fire Hall basement from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.. The final weigh-in will be at the same location and time but held June 1-9.
Zimmitravich said of the project, “I want them (the people) to have the goal to lose weight. Some people just need that spark to get them going and that’s what we’re doing.”
He also said Mayor Gary Gilbert was one of the great success stories of last years “biggest loser” type contest held last year among the firefighters.
There is no age limit to participate. However, the project is only open to residents in the “158” zipcode. The total weight loss will be announced during DuBois Community Days.
