Obituary Notice: Ronald Lee McClure

Ronald Lee McClure, 74, of Big Run, and formerly of Curwensville, passed away on Feb. 18 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.

Born Dec. 16, 1935 in Pike Township, Clearfield, he was the son of Paul B. and Maxine Opal (O’Laughlin) McClure.  Mr. McClure was a mechanic for the North American Refractories Co. of Curwensville retiring after 31 years of service. 

He was a member of the Curwensville United Methodist Church, a lifetime member off the National Rifle Association, the Big Run Historical Society and Genealogy, had volunteered in a number of Pennsylvania State Parks doing clean up on trails, and was a member of the American Legion.  He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are 3 sons: Ronald L. McClure Jr. and his domestic partner Rhonda of Anderson, IN, Thomas McClure and his wife Becky, and David McClure and his wife Jo-Anna both of Curwensville. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren Erika Leigey, Bryce McClure, Zachary McClure, and Nathaniel McClure, a sister and a brother.  Ross McClure and his wife Pam of DuBois and Barbara Feezer and her husband Paul of Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Susan McClure, brothers Marlin and Merle McClure, and an infant sister Beverly McClure.

Services for Mr. McClure will be held at the Curwensville United Methodist Church on Tuesday February 23, 2010 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverends John F. White and Allison Grove co-officiating.  Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde, PA

Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Feb. 22 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
