John Lloyd ‘King’ ‘Red’ Davis, 82 of Madera died on Feb. 17 at Clearfield Hospital.
He was born on April 26, 1927 in Blandburg, a son of the late Lloyd E. and Jane E. (Nash) Davis.
Mr. Davis was a retired businessman. He owned and operated John L. Davis Lumber in the Irvona area for over 40 years. During that time he leased coal properties. He also owned the Riverside Motel and the Mariloyd Personal Care Home, both of Clearfield. Previously, he worked as a contractor building houses.
He served with the US Navy Seabees during WWII.
He was Methodist by faith.
Mr. Davis was a member of the Arbor Day Club and had planted over 11,000 trees a year for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Marita (Wahing) Davis, whom he wed Jan. 25, 1995 in Winchester, VA; children John M. Davis of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Jane E. Davis of Clearfield, Christopher J. Davis and wife Lori of Irvona; grandchildren Sheena, Melanie, Christopher and Nicholas; great-grandchildren Blake, Shay, Luke and Morayo Graham; brother William Boyd Davis of Osterburg and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Cecelia (Stover) Davis on June 30, 1991 and whom he married Oct. 12, 1945 in Philipsburg.
Funeral services will be held at the Glad Tidings Assembly of God, Clearfield on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ken Claflin officiating. Interment will follow in the Philipsburg Cemetery.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Moshannon Valley Honor Guard.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
