Samuel J. Graham, 78, of Clearfield, passed away on Feb. 12 at Mt. Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Graham was born on Jan. 20, 1932 in Clearfield, the son of Henry Zinn and Sarah (Dixon) Graham.
He had been employed by Lawrence Township, Shawville Coal Co. and Swisher Contracting as a heavy equipment operator.
Mr. Graham was a member of the Mt. Joy United Methodist Church.
He was a member of the Clearfield Veterans of Foreign Wars F. Michael Sicks Post No. 1785 and American Legion John Lewis Shade Post No. 6, where he was an active member of the Honor Guard. He was also a past member to the sixth degree and held various offfices in the Mt. Joy Grange.
Mr. Graham was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener.
Mr. Graham is survived by four children; Linda M. Johnson of Houtzdale, Fred A. Graham and his wife Susan of Clearfield, David Graham and his fiancee Gerry Erhard of Clearfield and Samuel J. Graham, Jr. and his wife Hope of Goshen, eight grandchildren; William S. Johnson and his wife Jennifer, Jennifer Poorbaugh, Kimberly Houchins and her husband Craig, Kevin Graham, David Graham, Timothy Graham, Donovan Graham and Yvonne Graham, five great grandchildren, two sisters; Ann Lamere of Saranac Lake, NY and Edith Lorah of Vienna, VA and two brothers; Theodore “Ted” and William “Bill” Graham of Clearfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Madeline S. (Seaburn) Graham whom he married on June 18, 1952 and who passed away on July 25, 1998, an infant son, Robert Henry Graham, two brothers; Russell and Delbert Graham and a son in law, William J. Johnson.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Feb. 17 at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. of Clearfied with Pastor Robert Achey and Pastor Kenneth Leonard co-officiating. Interment will be in the Goshen Cemetery at the convience of the family.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Feb. 16 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services. Military Honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the Clearfield American Legion Post No. 6 and VFW Post No. 1785 Honor Guard.
